    Join NRV SHRM on Wednesday, October 21st as Dirk Buengel leads us on the topic of "How to change corporate culture in support of strategy."


       Dirk will focus on a pragmatic definition of corporate culture, the importance of culture for strategy execution and competitive advantages, and specific approaches to change corporate culture to be fully aligned with the company's purpose, vision and strategy. He will also demonstrate how to assess your current culture as a starting point, show a strong and weak organization culture, and to see if there is a need to change or adjust your culture. Lastly, there will be a review of why it is so difficult to drive successful cultural change and the proven concepts and best practices to change culture.

    Learning objectives:

    1. Understand the definition and importance of corporate culture.

    2. Be able to assess a company's corporate culture using a culture typology.

    3. Be able to drive cultural change via different approaches and leadership interventions.

    BIO:

    Dirk is an accomplished, broadly qualified and internationally experienced senior executive with a proven track record in achieving profitable and sustainable growth in various global Fortune 500 companies. His experience is extensive and diverse – from working in different regions (Europe, Latin America, North America), managing different business models (innovation-driven specialties business and commodity business) to working in different industries (engineering & electronics, fast-moving consumer goods, chemical industry, consulting). Dirk’s leadership approach is to translate vision and strategy into operative results with and through people, creating a high-performance and customer-centric organization that is winning in the market. He also has a strong background in human resource management, management consulting and people & organizational development.  

    Dirk works as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Management at the
    Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. He teaches various classes for undergraduate
    and graduate students in which he brings in his broad practical experience combining leading
    edge teaching with a focus on connecting the dots between classroom and corporate
    management.
