About Us
THE NEW RIVER VALLEY CHAPTER was founded in Blacksburg in 1971. Our membership reflects the diverse economic interests characteristic of our region. We serve the New River Valley including Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Dublin, Floyd, Giles, Pulaski, and Radford. We have over 100 members representing an array of business, government and university professionals. In addition, we support two student SHRM chapters at Radford University and Virginia Tech.
MEETING INFORMATION
We meet on the third Thursday of each month at 12:00pm. We provide a warm, informal environment in which to discuss issues of professional significance. We do web-based monthly meetings and meet in-person quarterly. Recent topics covered have included employee wellness programs, AI for HR professionals, shaping the future of HR, attracting and developing talent and change management strategies.
