We all hold biases—our brains are naturally wired to establish patterns and associations between information in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our decision making. Most of the time, our implicit, or unconscious biases are harmless, and can even be positive. However, they’re not always accurate, and as a result, can have negative consequences.

In this session, participants will learn how to explore their biases and what they can do at both a managerial and individual level to become more aware of these in their everyday interactions. Through class discussions, reflective activities, and videos they will explore the various ways unconscious bias develops and how it may impact individuals in the workplace.

    Session Learning Objectives:

    • Explore Building a Diversity Competency
    • Review implicit bias and reflect the various ways it affects business decisions and everyday life
    • Discuss how HR can make a difference and set the tone in the organization
