    Jim worked at the Capital Group/American Funds from 1992- 2009.  American Funds is the 3rd largest mutual fund company in the US.  He worked in various leadership roles within the Operations, Shareholder Services, and Human Resources departments.

     

    His primary responsibility in the Human Resource department was talent management and the recruitment of entry- level professionals.  During his time at Capital, Jim was involved in the recruitment and hiring of hundreds of students, many local to the Hampton Roads area and beyond throughout the region.  During this time, Jim established an internship program that has grown from the Hampton Roads office throughout all the Capital locations throughout the country.

     

    In 2009, Jim accepted the position of Associate Director, Employer Relations with Virginia Tech Career and Professional Development. In this role. Jim leads a team whose primary function is to provide guidance and assistance to employers and recruiters throughout the nation, helping them to recruit and hire students into Internships, Cooperative Education, and Post- graduation jobs.

     

    He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Radford University and a Masters in Human Resource Development from The George Washington University

     

    Jim obtained his Professional in Human Resource (PHR) certification in 2005 and later his Senior Professional in Human Resource (SPHR) certification in 2008
