Our Brains & Change: Using Five Neuroscience Concepts to Create Better Change Outcomes
Dr. Elizabeth Moran
1. Learn to leverage five of the most relevant brain science concepts to engage team members more effectively to achieve better transformation outcomes.
2. Use the power of shifting to a “curious mindset" to respond more compassionately to tough questions and reactions, making it more likely that team members will buy in vs. resist the change.
3. Learn a practical, communication-based approach when talking about a change or when managing tough questions, emotional reactions, or resistance.
Every week thousands of people leaders are asked—or told—to lead through a change they didn’t initiate and one that their team will likely resist. People are complex when it comes to change. We're hardwired to learn and grow on the one hand, while on the other, changes trigger our threat response, causing resistance. HR Leaders and Partners are often caught in the middle between those driving the change and employees who may resist implementing the change. Additionally, many of us waste valuable time and energy responding to "resistance" as a problem, further slowing down transformation.
This talk gives HR partners a practical approach to work through resistance to change that is grounded in neuroscience, and tips they can share with their business leaders and/or use themselves to address the emotional side of change resistance with greater ease and confidence.
