Culture Makers: Creating a Workplace Culture of Empowerment through Servant Leadership
Jason Butler
The collective stress of the past 2 years has left companies facing the greatest workplace adjustments in over a generation. The old models of ‘profit over people’ leadership and engagement are gone, replaced by a focus on belonging, empowerment, and company culture. According to a new Glassdoor survey, 77% of adults polled said they would “consider a company’s culture” before seeking a job there. Another 56% added that they found a good workplace culture to be “more important than salary” when it came to job satisfaction. Creating a culture of empowerment & belonging are now essential to engagement, productivity, retention, and attraction. But how is culture created and what tools can we utilize to create the culture that leads to healthy thriving workplaces? The answer starts with a mindset shift toward servant leadership…
In this high energy session, Jason Butler, author of The Village Mindset, will lay out the building blocks of creating a positive workplace culture that build belonging and strengthen engagement. Jason will begin by sharing the fundamentals of culture and explaining why this is important to the human psychology need for safety to participants. Next, he’ll define servant leadership with stories and examples and give participants the tools and mindset shift to incorporate these principles of empowerment throughout the life of our workplaces focusing first on “controlling what we can control” and positively influencing what we can’t. He’ll bring all this together in a fun, engaging, and relevant way that will give participants new ideas and resources to influence their companies for positive change.
Jason has over 20 years of leadership experience in community facing roles as an executive director, community organizer, and business entrepreneur. Throughout his career he has helped organizations and communities navigate difficult change through positive community asset positioning, impact values investments, and a systems solutions focus. Now, he helps executive leaders and HR professionals successfully adapt to the changing needs of employees through his Village Mindset framework that utilizes the science-based research of compassion and the soft skills of emotional intelligence to activate the powerful principles of Servant Leadership.
Jason is a strategic thinking, a dynamic keynote speaker, and the author of The Village Mindset (www.thevillagemindset.com).
